Couples therapy Hamilton
Couples therapy is an opportunity for us to understand our past and change our future.
If you are interested in changing the way you approach life, your relationship(s), and willing to understand and improve yourself as a person while overcoming challenges, couples therapy might be the way forward for you.
It is challenging to make the decision to start the journey of engaging in therapy to overcome your relationship difficulties. It is equally challenging to decide who would be able to help you through this journey.
Hopefully, information below will make it easier for you to decide if I am suitable to be your couples therapist and support you in this journey.
Clinical Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board since 2017.
I am originally from Sri Lanka and I worked in the public sector as a Clinical Psychologist for the National Child Protection Authority for over 5 years before moving to New Zealand.
Currently I work in the public health service with Waikato District Health Board within the Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Hamilton.
I also have past experience in working in the private sector as a Clinical Psychologist to provide support to children, teenagers, couples and adults with various mental health difficulties.
As a result, I have extensive knowledge and experience in working with children, teenagers, adults and families with mental health difficulties.
With my experience in living in various countries and working in the public service I’m able to incorporate each client's individual interest, culture, spirituality and life experiences in treatment planning.
Based on the information provided, treatment plan will be developed to address your presentation. Treatment will be based on evidence-based approaches suitable for your needs and will be delivered within boundaries of professional conduct.
