Are you a counsellor or therapist and do you offer relationship counselling or couples therapy in New Zealand?

Penelope is a Somatic Practitioner and Registered Social Worker who walks alongside people through life’s tender and transformative moments. Drawing on her skills in trauma, grief, couples work, mindset shifts, and embodied ritual, she weaves together the grounding of somatic healing with the expansion of intuitive movement.
She guides individuals and couples through healing, transformation, and growth.
As a Yoga Teacher and Somatic Healer, her sessions invite the body to speak, the heart to open, and the spirit to remember its own wisdom. Guided by her love for family, nature, and the elements, Penelope creates sacred, supportive spaces where clients can unravel what no longer serves them and step into deeper connection, clarity, and wholeness.

Our online sessions are designed to feel just as connected, safe, and supportive as if we were in the same room. We meet via WhatsApp, a secure and accessible platform that allows for both video and audio calls. You’ll need a stable internet connection, a quiet, private space where you can relax, and a device with WhatsApp installed. You add your phone number into WhatsApp and this is how we connect.
Before our first session, I’ll send you a simple guide to help you set up your space so you feel comfortable and grounded—perhaps with a cup of tea, your journal, or a cosy blanket. Once our call begins, we’ll dive into the work together, using the same approaches I offer in-person: somatic practices, gentle guidance, and tailored therapeutic support.
WhatsApp also allows for easy communication between sessions, so you can share reflections or receive brief check-ins as needed (within agreed boundaries). This way, your healing journey can flow with consistency, even from the comfort of your own home.
Fields of Expertise & Specialisations
I specialise in working with individuals and couples around:
Communication difficulties and conflict resolution
Rebuilding trust, safety, and intimacy
Navigating transitions such as marriage, parenthood, separation, or loss
Healing relational wounds, attachment patterns, and inner child dynamics
Strengthening partnership, connection, and shared vision
Most Treated Issues
The couples I work with most often come seeking support for breakdowns in communication, feelings of disconnection, intimacy challenges, and struggles during major life changes. Many also wish to explore deeper relational healing, uncover unconscious patterns, and cultivate greater harmony in their partnership.
Expected Number of Sessions
While every couple’s journey is unique, most notice meaningful shifts within 6–10 sessions, especially when they engage actively with practices between sessions. Short-term focused work may be possible for specific issues (e.g. a communication block), whereas deeper healing of long-standing patterns often benefits from longer-term engagement, that may look more like 8-16 sessions.
