Relationship & couples counselling Hamilton

This method of couples therapy is for people in any kind of relationship who want to be in a better place.

Learning to use differences as the path to become closer, understand each other and have a more fulfilling relationship is what makes this method work. I get the important information about what is currently going on for you in your relationship or what has gone wrong for you. Then we set up goals - what needs to be repaired, what you want for each of you and for the relationship going forward. I teach you the skills, strengths, and support you in developing these skills which you might never have been taught. Finally you will be able to learn what needs to be done to feel the relief of being able to re-connect deeply with your partner.

Through this method, individuals and couples can grow beyond their wildest expectations and feel the relief in doing so. If you stick to this process, you will feel the shifts happening within you.

Online therapy

I use Zoom, Skype, Face Time, WhatsApp video call.

We spend a few minutes to ensure that the space is confidential and safe and that we have options to go to if the connection drops. We make sure we can hear and see each other well.

This space is an excellent alternative to face to face therapy! It also works for couples who have little ones in bed at home.

Qualifications and registrations

I trained firstly as a Medical Practitioner (MBChB) in South Africa and worked as a GP for more than 30 years.I am still registered as GP in South Africa.

Also trained as a Clinical Psychologist (also trained in South Africa).

Certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (International training).

Certificate in counseling at UNISA, courses in CBT, Hypnotherapy, Psycho-analysis, a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, Sexology, Developmental model couples therapy, Emotionally Focussed therapy (NZ), ACT, Motivational Interviewing, EFT (Emotionally focussed therapy for couples), Schema therapy, Hypnotherapy. Also trained in using EMDR (Eye movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy - specialising in Attachment and Internal Family Systems informed EMDR as well as Inter personal Neuro Biology. I am also trained to apply the Adult Attachment Inventory.

I have been in private practice for 25 years, doing individual psychotherapy, relationship therapy, group therapy, family therapy, sexology & presenting workshops to a variety of groups on a variety of subjects.

Couples – 1 hr: $231.33 + GST (= $266)

1.5 h (first session and recommended for couples): $347 plus GST (= $400)
